About Me

It is a privilege to introduce myself! Establishing trust and comfort with your physician is essential, and I hope the following gives you an opportunity to get to know me better.

Biography

I have had the opportunity to spend time in various parts of this amazing country. I grew up in the Midwest and did my undergraduate studies at Cornell University in New York. Then, I graduated from medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio and completed my general surgery residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center here in Los Angeles. After my surgery residency, I pursued further specialty training in advanced minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at UC San Francisco Medical Center before ultimately joining Kaiser Permanente. I have lived in California ever since. I am married to an amazing woman, have 2 beautiful daughters, and love spending time with them whenever I get the chance!

About my practice

Practicing medicine at Kaiser Permanente has been an honor, and I wholeheartedly believe in our mission of providing high-quality preventive health care for our members. I am board certified in general surgery and obesity medicine and have a clinical focus in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery. Weight loss surgery can have a significant impact on a person’s life. A key benefit of minimally invasive surgery is the ability to perform these complex operations through small incisions, resulting in rapid recovery. Utilizing this approach helps me reduce the physical and psychological toll from an operation and provides a quicker path to healing as members start on their journey to better health! Community involvement and connections with others are vital for a fulfilling life, and my faith is central to this belief. In addition, my family and friends provide immeasurable inspiration and support. Thus, when meeting members for the first time, I strive to build a strong rapport with them from the outset, for this is where the care experience truly begins.

How I thrive

In my spare time, I seek out opportunities for personal and professional growth. Currently, this involves volunteering as a worship pastor at a local church as well as doing my best to model the healthy lifestyle we encourage for members. Being able to live, work, and serve in the same geographic area has been such a gift! It has provided me with a profound sense of purpose and has helped me feel deeply woven into the fabric of my community.
