Biography
I grew up on the East Coast, mostly in New England. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina, and medical school at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After completing medical school, I served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Navy for 6 years. In the Navy, I got to travel all over the world, from the Middle East to Japan, providing medical care for the Navy's aviators and air crew. I also got to log flight time in various aircraft, from F-18s to EA-6Bs. Upon completing my service, I came to Kaiser Permanente in Woodland Hills for my residency training and then joined the Family Medicine Department here full-time in 2012. I also currently serve as the Assistant Program Director of our medical center's Family Medicine residency, as the Site Director for our Community Medicine Fellowship and as an instructor for our resident Behavioral Sciences Clinic.
About my practice
I believe in delivering kind, thoughtful, and personalized care to people. Every person is different and it's important to provide care tailored to the needs of the individual. As a behavioral sciences educator, I also understand that mental well-being is critically important to achieving physical well-being. Furthermore, I am passionate about providing sensitive and informed care to our LGBTQ population, and I also serve as our medical center's LGBTQ physician champion.
I encourage the members I treat to register at kp.org. The website is a great resource and allows you to look up lab results, make routine appointments, and have email communications with me and your other physicians.
How I thrive
In my down-time, I love walking, hiking, gardening, and reading mystery and detective novels. I relish any excuse to get outside and enjoy our beautiful weather here in sunny California. I also love traveling and have been to many places around the world; I would love to continue to explore different continents. My family is my greatest passion and my favorite activity is spending time with them.
