About Me

Hello, and welcome to my Web page! I am a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist practicing at Kaiser Permanente’s Antelope Valley Medical Offices.

I believe deeply in treating members with compassion, and I consider it an honor to support individuals and families through their cancer journey.

Biography

I moved to the United States from Colombo, Sri Lanka, with my family at the age of 5 and have lived in Southern California ever since. It’s truly meaningful to now care for members in the same region I’ve called home for most of my life.

About my practice

My Cancer Subspecialty

My clinical focus lies in malignant hematology, including leukemias, lymphomas, and other blood cancers. I also manage a wide spectrum of general oncology and benign hematologic disorders.

I aim to treat the whole person, not just the disease, combining medical care with compassionate emotional support. I believe in the power of a positive mind-set, and I work closely with members and their families to help navigate the cancer journey as a team.

National Expertise on Multidisciplinary Teams

I am an active member of the Southern California Regional Subspecialty Malignant Hematology Committee, where I contribute to the evaluation and introduction of new therapies into the National Kaiser Permanente Oncology Care Pathways.

I also serve as a regional expert on the Multidisciplinary Malignant Hematology Tumor Board, helping shape best practices in the treatment of complex hematologic cancers. My involvement ensures that members receive care that is not only compassionate and individualized but also informed by recent advances and national standards.

Research and Clinical Trials

My academic and research background includes a 2-year leukemia fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, which is one of the nation's leading cancer institutions. During this time, I participated in multiple research studies and clinical trials involving novel therapies for hematologic malignancies.

My continued work with regional and national committees allows me to stay at the forefront of medicine based on evidence and current research and emerging treatments, bringing the latest in cancer care directly to members. I have started working with other physicians and doctors of pharmacy to review CML stop therapies done.

How I thrive

Outside of medicine, I enjoy playing tennis and practicing Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian dance that I’ve performed since the age of 7. Reconnecting with dance has brought great joy and balance to my life. I thrive by staying active, whether it’s through prayer, movement, or creative expression.

These practices keep me grounded and energized. At Kaiser Permanente, we emphasize the importance of thriving, not just surviving, and I encourage members to embrace their own paths to wellness. I’m also deeply grateful for my supportive husband and our loving 3 children, who bring light and inspiration to my everyday life.
