About Me

Hello, and welcome to my Web page. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you about my practice. I feel very fortunate to work as a nephrologist (kidney specialist) at Kaiser Permanente. Practicing medicine in an integrated, quality care environment such as this, with excellent and committed colleague physicians and other staff, has made my experience at Kaiser Permanente very fulfilling. I realize that living with kidney disease can be difficult, but hopefully, getting to know your doctor and learning more about your condition will help you to better manage it and relieve any anxiety you may have.

Biography

I was born in China. I received my MD and PhD degrees from Beijing Medical University. After coming to the United States, I received my postdoctoral research fellowship training in immunology and molecular biology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Wanting to become an excellent physician has always been in keeping with my passion for helping people who are in need and making a real difference in their quality of life. I did my internal medicine residency at St. Vincent Hospital of Worcester Medical Center in Massachusetts, then moved to California with my family and completed my nephrology fellowship at UCLA. As a nephrologist, I decided to join Kaiser Permanente, as the organization allows me to concentrate on the highest quality of member care.

About my practice

As a nephrologist, my job is to educate members with kidney disorders, emphasize disease prevention, and treat each individual with respect and dignity, promoting healthy living and delivering excellent care. As a nephrologist, I see members in my office and in the hospital, and also follow some in our affiliated dialysis centers. Treating kidney disease can be both rewarding and challenging. Most patients who are referred to a kidney specialist are quite anxious about their condition. Especially, those facing dialysis and transplant, and they have many questions and concerns. I believe it is important to listen carefully to members and tailor my clinical approach in a culturally sensitive way to each individual. I always want my members to know that I am here to help.

How I thrive

I believe it is crucial to keep balance between my career and my family life. After work, I spend most of my time with my family. I enjoy painting, gardening, cooking, swimming, and tai chi.
