About Me

I first learned about genetic counseling in 8th grade while growing up in Alaska. I loved the idea of learning about genetics, educating patients and also being an advocate. As a genetic counselor, I get to be a teacher, but I also get to learn from my patient's about their experiences and perspectives. I went to college in Oregon, attended graduate school in Boston, Massachusetts, then quickly returned to the Pacific Northwest which has been my permanent home since 2010.

About my practice

Here at Kaiser Permanente, we have one large Genetics department, which allows me to utilize my training for all patient types. I work in the prenatal setting, with children, counsel about cancer, and everything in between. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to continue to use all of my training and stay sharp in all areas of Genetics.

How I thrive

In my spare time I enjoy practicing Bikram yoga, hiking with my husband and yellow Labrador in the summertime, and skiing in the wintertime. We love to spend time with our family and friends while cooking, trying new restaurants, and traveling whenever we get the chance.
