About Me

I was born in Bangkok, Thailand. After completing my medical training at Siriraj Hospital there, I did a residency in internal medicine at the Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital, named for the current king of Thailand. I then became fascinated with the study of the human heart and decided to do a two-year cardiology fellowship at the Central Chest Hospital. Following the residency I worked at Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital in Bangkok. In an effort to promote overall public health, I also worked with the underprivileged in rural areas where modern health care was in its infancy. Aspiring to be the best doctor I could be, I came to the U.S. for further study, where there are excellent health care systems, advanced technology, and strong academic programs. I was fortunate to become a research fellow at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, where I participated in research on noninvasive cardiology and measurements of cardiac efficiency. I also became an assistant professor and did editorial review of papers submitted to cardiology journals. I then decided to return to clinical work, and I completed a residency program at the University of Hawaii. My family, including my wife and three children, has always been supportive of me and has inspired me to be what I am today.

About my practice

My dream of becoming a doctor began in childhood. Even then I had a passion for caring for and treating the seriously ill. I believe that practicing medicine requires a strong commitment and a devotion to saving the life of a patient. I strive to treat my patients as if they were family and am most gratified when I am able to help relieve their pain and suffering. My professional affiliations include membership in the American College of Physicians, the American Heart Association, the American Society of Echocardiography, the Internal Medicine Association of Thailand, the Invasive Cardiology Association of Thailand, the Medical Council of Thailand, and the Thai Heart Association.I have presented papers and lectured on a wide range of topics at conferences of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the American Society of Echocardiography, the European Society of Cardiology, and several other organizations in the U.S. These presentations took place around the world, including Canada, Ireland, Malaysia, the Philippines, Sweden, and Thailand.Articles that I authored or co-authored on these topics have appeared in several journals such as Cardiology in Review, Emergency Medicine Journal, Hospital Physician, the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography, the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, Cardiovascular Ultrasound, and the European Journal of Echocardiography. To stay up-to-date in my field, I read professional journals and participate in national and local symposiums. I also engage in discussions with my peers that often generate new ideas or new treatment methods. At the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group I have found excellent systems, great teamwork, and wonderful administrative support.

How I thrive

I swim and hike several times a week and play tennis on occasion. My family and I also enjoy eating and traveling together.
