About Me
I grew up in Steilacoom, Washington. When I was in seventh grade, I was the only girl in science class who liked dissecting the frog. My 12-year-old brain equated frog dissection to medicine, and so my life path was set. I attended college and medical school at the University of Washington in Seattle. After my residency training in Tacoma, I soaked up the sun in California for a couple of years as a private practice family medicine physician, and in 2002, I decided to return to the Northwest, and since that time have enjoyed working at Kaiser Permanente.
About my practice
I practice full spectrum outpatient family medicine, including all-gender primary care, pediatrics, geriatrics, primary care of LGBTQ+ members, and various office procedures. In addition to my Family Medicine board certification, I became a certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician in 2020 through the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. I see myself as a coach to support and encourage you on your way to finding wellness and healing for yourself. I believe that our lifestyle choices as individuals impact the health of our families, our community, and all life on Earth. I truly enjoy working with people to make positive changes in their lives and appreciate the vast resources we have available at Kaiser Permanente in order to support these changes.
How I thrive
I enjoy being outdoors (hiking, biking, forest bathing, camping) as well as indoors (exercising, making art, reading books, dancing) and spending time with my family, friends, and furry children. Mindfulness meditation has been a regular part of my life since 2004. In addition to a daily meditation practice, I co-lead a meditation group and teach mindfulness workshops. I have followed a plant-based diet since 2012 and believe this is the greatest choice I can make for my own health as well as all life on the planet. From personal experience, I truly believe that food is our greatest medicine. Life has so much to offer us in every moment — thanks for taking this moment to read my biography. May you be well!
