About Me
Welcome to the Kaiser Permanente Department of Pediatrics. My name is Daniel Metsch and I am happy to share with you some of my background!
Biography
I grew up in Riverside, California and graduated from Riverside Polytechnic High School in 1980. From there, I went to UC San Diego John Muir College and graduated in 1984 with a degree in animal physiology. After, I attended the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara Medical School from 1984-1986 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Learning a different language, culture, and meeting new people from all over the world was a life-changing experience. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, I transferred to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Rutgers Medical School, where I earned my medical degree. After that, I had my pediatric training at the University of California School of Medicine . After finishing my residency, I spent 14 years working with the United States Navy as a contract physician. Having spent those wonderful years taking care of military dependents, I decided to inquire about a job with Kaiser Permanente.
About my practice
Working as a staff physician has been very rewarding as our department is very patient-oriented and accommodating. We all work together as a team here at the Kaiser Permanente Carlsbad Medical Offices. We are always striving to improve and welcome any suggestions or comments.
How I thrive
In my personal life, I have three children ranging from ages 13 years to 21 years of age. My wife is a surgical nurse, and yes, we met during my pediatric training years. We have been married now 22 years and counting. A positive family life and work environment coupled with trying to eat healthy and exercise helps me thrive in mind, body and spirit.
