About Me

After my pediatric training, I practiced general pediatrics in Madison, Wisconsin for six years. Having lived in Wisconsin most of my life, I wanted a change and my love for hiking, biking, running, fishing, and skiing made Colorado the perfect place! I moved here in 2006 and began a job as a hospitalist, but it wasn't long before I missed the continuity of my pediatric practice, getting to know the families as I watched the children grow. I joined Kaiser Permanente in April of 2008 and have been extremely happy since that time. It's been great working with a team that has the same values as I do, while being able to live and play in such an amazing place. While it's been a little more challenging to follow the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers, the mountains and everything else that Denver offers makes it all worth it!

About my practice

General pediatrics is the perfect fit for me! I'm able to provide preventative care and "nip things in the bud" before they become big problems. Coaching first-time parents with a brand new baby immediately after treating a 17-year-old with a knee injury are just two examples of why I love all aspects of pediatric care. This great variety makes every day unique and interesting and working as part of a team that strives to put the patient at the center of everything we do is great. I want patients and their families to think of me as a point person for their "wellness team"; this team not only includes doctors and nurses, but teachers, coaches, etc. It really includes everyone that can contribute to transitioning that child to a happy, healthy, and productive adult.

How I thrive

Living in Colorado, there is never a shortage of opportunities to thrive. I love to run, and have finished six marathons. Road biking is also a special love and I try and get up to the mountains whenever I can to hike, camp, and backpack. Pilates and yoga are relatively new for me, but I like how they help my overall health and help me relax without the pounding that my body takes during my other activities. My multiple medical missions in Nicaragua and Belize fulfills my desire to volunteer and care for the incredible people of Central America—this work continually grounds me and makes me appreciate all that we have in this country! Oh yeah...I also enjoy watching sporting events; being from the Midwest, I just can't get the Packers, Badgers, and Cubs out of my system!
