About Me

Hello, I am Ron Reinsch. I began my career with Kaiser Permanente after finishing my residency at UCLA in 1973.

Biography

I am from Michigan and attended the University of Michigan and then Wayne State University School of Medicine. After deciding I did not want to shovel snow any longer, I moved to San Diego and did an internship at UC San Diego. It was then I decided my calling in medicine was obstetrics and gynecology. I started residency in ob/gyn at UCLA. I was then fortunate to be hired at the Kaiser Permanente facility in San Diego. A physician is what I have wanted to be since I was asked the question of "what are going to do when you grow up?" Although some say I never really grew up, the practice of medicine has been fulfilling in many ways, and I love what I do. I have 2 grown sons. I am married to my best friend and fellow physician, who has 3 adult daughters. My wife and I have 2 boxers, who love to take us on walks. We travel as much as we can. I also enjoying biking, photography, and repairing things around the house.

About my practice

When I started working here, there was a need to see members with infertility. As my practice grew, with the help of the nurses I worked with, we started a program to expedite an infertility workup and start therapy. The program we developed became a model for the rest of Southern California Kaiser Permanente facilities. Development of self and education is encouraged at Kaiser Permanente. Because of that, I have been able to do research and learn prenatal diagnostic procedures, which I then taught to other physicians in Southern California Kaiser Permanente facilities. I had the opportunity to start labor, delivery, and recovery in the same room. Also, I was able to do the first laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries. I enjoy teaching what I love to do and have worked with doctors and students in Russia and Lithuania. I also have done volunteer work in Honduras, Ghana, Congo, and Rwanda. Teaching residents and fellows from UC San Diego has been a privilege over the years as well.

How I thrive

Good health is a blessing. I believe we should do all we can to keep what we have been given in the best possible condition. This means eating reasonable foods in reasonable amounts and exercising, which I admit is not my favorite thing to do, but my body likes it. For me, yoga is a wonderful thing, not just for helping with staying flexible and maintaining strength, but helping calm me, helping me focus, and putting in perspective what is important. I am a Christian and try to live and work with all people as fellow human beings who need to be respected and loved. I believe we are all responsible for this planet and must do everything we can to help improve and preserve it.
