I was born in the U.S. Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands and moved to Hawaii when I was seven years old. I feel fortunate to have grown up in such beautiful and tropical environments.
I decided to pursue a career in medicine because I love the intellectual challenge and value helping people live healthier lives. I decided to specialize in internal medicine because I believe in prevention and cherish developing long-term relationships with my patients. I enjoy working with the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group because I am able to focus on practicing medicine. I also appreciate how we are always looking to innovate and improve our medical care with scientifically-based evidence. My philosophy of care is to prevent disease. I believe that a healthy lifestyle and necessary medical screenings are crucial for my patients. Having worked for Kaiser Permanente Hawaii for over 20 years, I have become good friends with many of my patients whom I have seen for many years. I also encourage my patients to utilize the valuable resources on kp.org, which also allows me to communicate securely with them through email. I have worked on the Medicare Strategy Committee and lead an initiative regarding the optimization of care for our senior population. I also have a special interest in the metabolic processes of the body.
I keep physically fit by exercising daily. I love to sit and relax with a good book and get lost in the storyline.
