About Me

Hello, I am Dr. Ong-Veloso, a pediatrician with Kaiser Permanente’s Lancaster office. Working with both children and their parents gives me great satisfaction. Since my practice covers kids from birth through their teen years, I’ve often had the opportunity to see my members grow and mature into wonderful young adults. I take pleasure in the thought that I’ve contributed in some small way to their upbringing.

Biography

I was born in the Philippines on the beautiful island of Cebu. My family immigrated to the United States and chose to settle in sunny California. As a successful surgeon, my father provided my inspiration to become a doctor. Attending medical school at the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines, I went on to serve as an intern in Manila. My pediatric residency was performed at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. During my time there, an attending physician recommended Kaiser Permanente when he learned I was going back to Southern California. After asking around and getting good reports, I applied with Kaiser Permanente and began as a part-time pediatrician. They must have liked my work, because soon I was officially on staff. That was 1991 and I’ve been with Kaiser Permanente ever since.

About my practice

Being a good doctor is all about being a good listener. You need to be able to hear members’ and parents’ concerns while keeping an open mind and not being judgmental. By understanding what is important to them, you can form a treatment strategy that best meets their needs.

How I thrive

I enjoy spending time with my extended family as often as possible, listening to classical music, or just hanging out at a good book store reading. I also have fun going out dancing with family and friends. Keeping balance in my life is very important to me. I try to live healthy by doing things in moderation.
