About Me

Welcome to my Web page, and to Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center. I am excited to have this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you about my work.

Biography

I am an adult psychiatrist who has worked in the past as the chief of service of the psychiatry department and as an assistant area medical director. I now serve as physician director of special medical services. I began working with Kaiser Permanente in 1991, after completing residency, and am proud to be part of what I believe is one the leading health care delivery organizations in the country. Our commitment to providing high-quality care and an excellent member experience is fulfilled through our coordinated system and interdisciplinary collaboration. I have lived in Southern California most of my life, although, due to my love of travel and adventure, I have spent time living on the East Coast and in Europe. I am committed to educating the next generation of physicians. I do this through my work with the UC Riverside and UC Irvine Schools of Medicine, and the assistance of international medical school affiliations and student exchange programs. This is an exciting time for medicine in general, and mental health in particular. An explosion of knowledge has occurred regarding the brain, genetics, and the treatment of mental illness.

About my practice

I am proud to work for the department of psychiatry, which provides a broad spectrum of ever-evolving care and services. Mental health is just as important as physical health. In fact, the two are intertwined. Our mental health directly affects our physical heath and vice versa. Because of this, I emphasize that caring for the mind, as well as the body, is needed for overall health and is the key to success in our lives, whether it be at home, work, or school. My special focus areas are hospital consult liaison psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, somatization disorders, dual diagnosis, and integrated chronic pain management.

How I thrive

In my daily life, I aim for a balanced lifestyle. This includes doing some form of exercise regularly, trying to eat right, relaxing, and spending time with family and friends. In order to take care of others, you have to take care of yourself first. I enjoy riding my bike, walking, traveling, listening to music, playing piano, dancing, attending artistic and cultural events, and meeting new people.
