About Me

I am a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic sports medicine surgeon with over 10 years of experience. I believe in comprehensive, attentive, and efficient care for members. While treatment of members needs to be guided by strong scientific evidence and established results, I strive to never forget that the person comes first. I am committed to member satisfaction and continually seek to better meet the needs of members.

Biography

Originally from Ohio, I moved to San Diego while on active duty in the US Navy to serve as an orthopedic surgeon at Naval Medical Center San Diego, helping to care for our active duty military and retired service members as well as their family members. During my service in the Navy, I also served as the team orthopedic surgeon to our San Diego-based Naval Special Warfare (SEAL) Teams. I transitioned from the Navy to Kaiser Permanente in San Diego but remain active in the Navy Reserves.

About my practice

I am comfortable caring for injured athletes of all ages and abilities, and the majority of my surgical expertise is in injuries to the shoulder, knee, and hip. Furthermore, I have a strong interest in youth sports injury prevention given the dramatic increase in youth overuse injuries experienced in recent years. I also have an interest in academic orthopedic surgery that motivates me to be active in research, continuing education, and instructor endeavors within the Kaiser Permanente system and throughout the San Diego orthopaedic community as well as with regional and national orthopaedic associations.

How I thrive

A great balance of family, work, and healthy activity is important to me.
