About Me

Hello, and welcome Welcome to my Web page. I am absolutely thrilled to be serving the Southern California community as a dermatologist and Mohs surgeon at Kaiser Permanente.

I grew up in Phoenix and went to Pomona College in Claremont, California. After college, I spent 11 years in Tucson, Arizona, working on a Ph.D. in pharmacology and toxicology, as well as earning my medical degree from the University of Arizona. After an internship in internal medicine at the University Medical Center in Tucson, I moved to Philadelphia to complete my training in dermatology at Thomas Jefferson University. Then, after seven years of practicing dermatology at Kaiser, I went “back to school” for a one-year Mohs micrographic surgery fellowship in Houston, Texas where I refined my surgical reconstruction and histopathologic skills. I went to medical school with the express purpose of becoming a dermatologic surgeon and am finally living my dream.

About my practice

The practice of medicine at Kaiser Permanente is perfectly aligned with my vision of healthcare: prevention, collaborative group practice, few barriers to care, and being encouraged to do all that is necessary for our patients. We are a constantly improving department, continuously striving to meet (and exceed) the dermatology needs of San Diegans. As your Mohs surgeon, I look forward to meeting you and addressing your skin cancer surgery-related concerns you may have. I work primarily out of the beautiful new Kaiser Permanente San Diego Medical Center in Kearny Mesa.

How I thrive

My time away from work is spent riding my road and mountain bicycles, woodworking, preparing vegetarian meals with my wife and children, messing around with various guitars, and sometimes just relaxing with my family. I enjoy taking in all the beauty that sunny San Diego has to offer.
