About Me
I was born in the mountain town of Pocatello, Idaho – the “Gateway to the Northwest.” After graduating from Creighton University in Nebraska with my bachelor’s degree, I went to the Autonomous Universidad de Guadalajara in Mexico for my medical degree. I did an internship and residency in the Southern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program and I’m board certified in family medicine.
I went to medical school with my wife, with whom I have three adult children. We came to Honolulu to work in this beautiful place that’s rightly called paradise.
About my practice
I’d always been interested in science, intellectual challenge, and a finding a meaningful way to help others. Being a physician seemed to be the ideal career.
The variety of health issues and opportunities found in family medicine, and its focus on caring for the whole patient, are what attracted me to this specialty.
Knowing my patients in the context of their families gives me a deeper understanding of their needs and enables me to determine the best way to support them. I also enjoy the long-term relationships that result from taking care of people over a number of years, in some cases over the course of their lives.
To ensure that I’m practicing in accordance with the latest information available, I read professional journals, consult colleagues in various specialties, and attend medical conferences.
How I thrive
For my physical well-being I exercise up to an hour most days and strive to eat a healthy diet. I especially like to dive, hike, and travel. To stay spiritually whole, I spend quality time with my wife and family.
