About Me

I am a native of Detroit, where I received my nursing education from Oakland University and Wayne State University. As a teenager growing up in Detroit and observing the many health disparities in our city, nursing became a natural choice for me. My nursing practice has afforded many opportunities to serve my community through disciplines such as cardiology, nephrology, telephonic nursing triage and emergency medicine in both Detroit and Atlanta.

The art and science of nursing is the philosophy that prompted me to obtain an advanced degree as a family nurse practitioner. In this role, I have broadened my scope of practice to better serve my community across the lifespan, providing comprehensive care.

About my practice

Providing care within Kaiser Permanente as both a registered nurse and a nurse practitioner has been an extremely enriching and rewarding experience. I learn daily from our members, my colleagues and through my practice. I work on the Express Care team, which offers same-day care for our members with minor acute symptoms. I am excited to be part of such a dynamic team helping our members thrive. My role allows me to collaborate with other specialties such as infectious disease, pulmonology, cardiology and family practice to promote holistic and integrative health care. Being part of this team allows me to thrive by providing patient-centered care through an evidence-based practice. From the time members are welcomed at the front desk to picking up their prescription, they are our number one priority. I feel Maya Angelou puts it best with, "I have learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel."

How I thrive

As a nurse practitioner, Kaiser Permanente not only offers me opportunities for continued education and research, but is also invested in my personal health. To balance mental and physical well-being, I participate in Pilates/ballet fusion several times a week, spiritual meditation and eat a balanced diet. I enjoy watching a good movie with family. I also love trying new recipes and walking the Beltline to explore the city I now call home. In addition, I volunteer with local non-profit organizations in the metro area to decrease disparities in health care.
