About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I am honored to be part of the comprehensive hematology and medical oncology program at Kaiser Permanente’s Lancaster Medical Office. I am a board-certified medical oncologist specializing in hematology and oncology, with a strong commitment to member-centered care that is based on evidence and current research. I currently serve as the chief of oncology for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group in Antelope Valley. Additionally, I chair the Antelope Valley High-Risk Cancer Clinic Program, overseeing multidisciplinary care coordination and personalized treatment planning for those with complex cancer diagnoses.

Biography

Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, I completed a research fellowship and received advanced academic and clinical training in hematology and oncology. This foundation has been instrumental in shaping my practice philosophy and allows me to tailor treatment strategies with precision, using the current evidence and therapeutic advances to deliver high-quality care for members.

About my practice

My Cancer Subspecialty Focus

My clinical expertise lies in gastrointestinal oncology, genitourinary oncology, and breast oncology, with a particular focus on bringing new clinical data and emerging therapies into individualized care strategies. I have a strong interest in managing complex and high-risk cancers, including hepatobiliary, pancreatic, colorectal, and bladder malignancies. I collaborate closely with surgical, radiation, and pathology teams to ensure that each member benefits from comprehensive and current multidisciplinary care.

National Expertise on Multidisciplinary Teams

As a regional oncology leader, I actively contribute to the development and implementation of Kaiser Permanente’s National Oncology Care Pathways. I am a member of the Southern California Regional Subspecialty Gastroenterology Oncology Committee, where I participate in pathway development, clinical protocol analysis, and the evaluation of emerging therapeutics. I also serve on the multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal Cancer Tumor Boards, providing consultation to support complex treatment decisions across the region.

Research and Clinical Trials

With a strong academic foundation in clinical research, I am an active sub-investigator in several National Cancer Institute–designated research networks, including:

  • SWOG Cancer Research Network
  • National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP)
  • Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology
  • NRG Oncology

My research interests include biomarker-driven therapy, treatment optimization in gastrointestinal and breast cancers, and improving outcomes through precision oncology. I remain committed to expanding access to promising clinical trials and applying innovations based on evidence and current research to community oncology settings. I am a member of both the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology, and I actively participate in national and regional meetings. This enables me to remain current with emerging research, guidelines, and standards of care - all of which I bring to the care I provide to members.

How I thrive

Life is a gift to be treasured, and I believe in staying active physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I find joy in spending time with my wife and twin boys, engaging in activities such as swimming, biking, and barbecuing. Their love and support rejuvenate me, allowing me to bring my best self to members each day.
