About Me

I am a longtime Southern California resident, and after a several-year adventure at Seattle Children’s Hospital as a pediatric hospitalist and a several-month stint as an pediatric urgent care doctor at Kaiser Permanente in Otay Mesa, I am now practicing as a hospital-based pediatrician at Kaiser Permanente’s San Diego Medical Center.

Biography

I grew up in Southern California and studied at UCLA for undergraduate, medical school, and pediatric residency training. In between all that education, I also worked at UCLA’s Blood and Platelet Center. Needless to say, I am quite the Bruin. I worked for a few years in Washington State as a pediatric hospitalist before joining Kaiser Permanente in San Diego in 2018.

About my practice

As a hospitalist (hospital-based pediatrician), I take care of children who are sick enough to need to stay in the hospital. This often is a very tough time for families, and so I make an extra effort towards empathy, compassion, and clear and timely communication. In addition to clinical work, I have been involved in medical education as well as regional and national quality improvement initiatives.

How I thrive

Both my academic and leisure interests have always been broad and varied, which is part of how I live a healthy life. I love classical music, Broadway musicals, and also modern rock/pop/alternative music, and I encourage people to dance and sing as if nobody is watching. There is a freedom in that. You may find me at group fitness classes at the gym, seeking out accessible hikes in the area, or meditating (napping?) by the beach. Above all, I am close to my family.
