About Me

I spent most of my formative years in the Bay Area. My father was an ophthalmologist, first in the U.S. Navy and later in private practice in Oakland, and he greatly influenced me to become an ophthalmologist. My career training took me all over the country. I have lived in New Orleans, Los Angeles, St. Louis, and Kansas City. I enjoyed all of those places but consider Oregon the best. I genuinely love medicine and consider service to others to be the most meaningful part of my life.

About my practice

I practice general or comprehensive ophthalmology, which covers everything from the eyelashes to the back of the skull. Although ophthalmology is considered a specialty, the overall health of the body has a significant influence on vision and eye health. I have worked for Kaiser Permanente my whole career and feel it provides the best and most ethical way to practice medicine. The members have been kind and gracious in providing me my medical education.

How I thrive

I enjoy gardening, hiking, and traveling. I have a wonderful family for which I'm grateful, and a Jack Russell terrier who makes me laugh every day.
