I spent most of my formative years in the Bay Area. My father was an ophthalmologist, first in the U.S. Navy and later in private practice in Oakland, and he greatly influenced me to become an ophthalmologist. My career training took me all over the country. I have lived in New Orleans, Los Angeles, St. Louis, and Kansas City. I enjoyed all of those places but consider Oregon the best. I genuinely love medicine and consider service to others to be the most meaningful part of my life.
