About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I’m happy to have this opportunity to provide you with information about myself. I hope it will help in your choice of psychiatrist, and serve as the foundation of a good clinical relationship.

Biography

I was raised in the Southern California area and attended college at UCLA. As a young adult, I lived in the Dominican Republic and attended medical school there. I returned to the United States to do research at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, after which I interned at UCLA. While at UCLA, I was involved in several research protocols in the Geriatric Psychiatry Department. I completed my psychiatric training at the UCLA San Fernando Valley Psychiatry Residency Training Program in 1990. I spent 12 years in private practice in the Downey area. During many of those years, I also served as chief of staff at College Hospital in Cerritos, where I developed a Hispanic partial hospitalization program. I’ve been at Kaiser Permanente for almost 10 years.

About my practice

I have a great deal of interest and experience in geriatric psychiatry, as well as transcultural issues. I’ve also spent many years providing services to the LGBTQ community. My psychotherapeutic approach is comprehensive, and I have a strong background in psychopharmacology.

How I thrive

I have a strong belief system and strive to maintain a healthy balance in my life. I’m fortunate to be practicing in an environment that attends to the needs of the whole person. Life balance is often difficult to achieve in our culture, so whenever possible, I enjoy traveling, reading, the performing arts, and entertaining with my friends and family.
