About Me

I was born and raised in Kaimuki on the island of Oahu. My father was an acupuncturist and herbalist so I grew up listening to his stories about the love he had for his work and the impact he had on his patients. As a child, I always had a positive experience with my pediatrician and decided that I wanted to pursue a career in medicine.

About my practice

As a pediatrician, I really enjoy working with children and their families. I love what I do and feel at ease with all that my job encompasses. I strive to focus on the fundamentals of pediatric preventive care, beginning from infancy through adolescence. I always base my clinical decisions on what is best for the child. Having fun and joking with children helps me to connect with them and make them feel more comfortable in the exam room. I also like to include them in discussions and encourage involvement in decision making when possible. I love the team approach that the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group takes in caring for our patients. I also support the focus on preventive medicine which allows me as a physician to make a bigger difference throughout my patients’ lives, not just during their appointments. In addition to my clinical work, I also coordinate the Pediatric Clinical Grand Rounds. We invite speakers in various specialties to present the most up-to-date information impacting pediatric care.

How I thrive

I love to laugh, play golf and participate in a variety of ocean sports on my days off. During longer vacations, I like to travel with my family to new places. Any time spent with my family is quality time!
