About Me
Welcome to my Web page. Thank you for the interest in knowing more about me. I have been practicing podiatric medicine and surgery since 1999. I am blessed to be part of the Kaiser Permanente team and have been since 2006. I look forward to working with you in caring for your foot health.
Biography
Born in Taiwan, I am the youngest of three brothers. In 1979, my family immigrated to the United States. My higher education opportunity began at UCLA where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in physiological sciences. I then attended California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco to earn my doctor's degree in podiatric medicine. My surgical residency training was completed at the Veterans Hospital in Loma Linda, CA. My love for medicine started at the age of 10 when I underwent a major lower extremity surgery. The surgery was successful in correcting an injury that I sustained at the age of 3. The wonderful medical team offered me a new perspective on life and a clear direction in my inevitable career path. It is a dream come true to be given the opportunity to help people with lower extremity ailments.
About my practice
I believe prevention is the best medicine. Prevention is through education and getting a good understanding of your health and medical condition. Therefore I enjoy explaining to my members the reasons behind their conditions and why treatment works the way it does. I also believe in teamwork. Our body is a masterpiece and it takes multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to keep this masterpiece healthy and working. I like to work directly with other medical specialties. This is done with effectiveness and in timely fashion. As a surgeon, I enjoy surgery of the foot and ankle. However, I believe elective surgery should be the last resort in treatment options. If surgery is needed, the Kaiser Permanente podiatry team and I will provide the best surgical care possible.
How I thrive
Staying healthy involves the spirit, the mind and the body. Foremost is the spirit. A sound spirit brings a clear mind and helps maintain a healthy body. My foundation is my faith. I actively oversee the well-being of many young adults and youths in my church. I enjoy leading a team to Taiwan annually to provide counseling to trouble teens. To stimulate my mind, I enjoy reading a good book and also watching a good movie with my wife. Although we have no children of our own, we enjoy babysitting for family and friends. As for physical health, eating healthy and daily exercise is the key to enduring a clear mind and a sound spirit. Life is too short to be wasted. Let's be active and thrive.
