About Me

I was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois. My educational and medical pursuits have since taken me to the University of Arizona, in Tucson; Rush University, in Chicago; Curitiba, Brazil, for study abroad; the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville; and now the Pacific Northwest. I was drawn to medicine, and more specifically psychiatry, to better understand the mind-body connection and ultimately apply that knowledge to benefit others.

About my practice

I believe that the best approach to treating mental illness is to consider and incorporate, if appropriate, a combination of approaches--medications, psychotherapy, and sometimes brain stimulation. I also believe that factors such as diet/nutrition, exercise, and social connection play an important role in happiness and managing emotions. I am a psychiatric specialist, providing general psychiatric care to HIV-positive patients in the Immune Deficiency Clinic, as well as a procedural psychiatrist, evaluating for and delivering treatments such as TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) and ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy) for members with depression/mood disorders.

How I thrive

I love spending time with my family and pursuing various athletic and outdoor activities, including rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, stand-up paddle boarding, paddle surfing, wakeboarding, and skiing. I also enjoy traveling, experiencing the food and culture of each place I visit.
