About Me
I grew up in Boise, Idaho. After attending Boise State University for my undergraduate nursing degree I began taking care of critically ill patients in the medical ICU there. After a few years, I moved to Portland to attend Oregon Health & Science University's nurse anesthesia program. I chose the practice of nurse anesthesia because I found it to be both highly challenging and very rewarding. When members undergo surgery, one of life's most stressful and momentous occasions, I am honored to have the responsibility of keeping them asleep and comfortable.
About my practice
My professional philosophy is to work together with the surgical and labor teams to ensure that each member is cared for in the best way possible. Although I am responsible for giving drugs and placing invasive lines and tubes, my role actually goes way beyond that. When I meet members in the preoperative area, I try to put them at ease by sitting down and calmly talking with them. I try to learn something about each of them and create a positive relationship. From pre-op to post-op, I guide members through unfamiliar surgical experiences, making sure that they are as comfortable as possible and safe. I care for everyone, from small children to older adults, for a variety of surgical procedures. Probably my favorite area to work is labor and delivery, where I perform epidural and spinal anesthesia frequently to keep women pain-free during labor.
How I thrive
I enjoy training in the martial arts, in which I compete regularly. I also enjoy playing guitar, exercising, and taking beach days with my family. Most of my time, however, is spent helping my wife chase our young twins around the house, trying to get them to eat and keeping them safe!
