About Me
Hello, and welcome to my web page. I was born in Portland, Oregon, I come from a unique background with mixed cultural experiences, as my dad is an immigrant from Tehran and my mom a small town farm girl from Iowa. I've spent many of my summers in the heartland riding on tractors, feeding animals and fishin', and other summers traveling to the Middle East and Europe visiting my extended family. I was fortunate to grow up learning about two radically different groups of peoples that I called family. I left the grey skies of Oregon for the land of endless summer. I graduated from Cal State Fullerton for undergraduate where I met my wonderful wife. I stayed in lovely OC for my master’s degree in food science and nutrition from Chapman University. As an ER doc I don't often get to talk with my patients about nutrition, but I try to incorporate diet into my patient care plans as appropriate.
Biography
I attended medical school at Western University of Health Sciences, and rotated all over the regions hospitals. After ten years in Southern California, I sold my car and decided to take a chance at urban living, so I moved to the East Coast. I spent a year living in Philadelphia. Then I moved to New York City for my residency in Emergency Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. My hospital served a very diverse patient population. Training here not only enhanced my learning in the medical field, but gave me a deep appreciation of other cultures. NYC stole a piece of my heart, but I returned to beautiful California to continue on my adventure through life.
About my practice
I always put my patients and patient care as my first and foremost priority. To achieve the best outcomes for our members, we all have to work together. Everyone is a vital member of the team, starting with the front lines in our amazing nursing staff, to the support and love from patient friends and families, and to the back end with our hard-working support staff. Another important tenet to me is open and clear communication. I strive always to ensure that my patients and their families understand and take part in medical decision making so that members receive the best care possible.
How I thrive
I love to live life to the fullest and believe in working hard, playing hard, and getting the most out of my down time. When I'm not in the ER I my favorite activities are traveling, eating out, spending time with my family, watching/playing sports, trying new things, listening to music, stand up comedy, going to the beach, watching movies, and just chilling out. Another passion of mine is medical volunteering abroad; I have been fortunate enough to have volunteered all over the globe. Helping others helps me thrive.
