About Me

I was born in the Midwest but consider myself a California native as I moved to the Bay Area in childhood. My interest in medicine, public health, and education started at the University of California, Berkeley, where I volunteered in free clinics and taught a class on social issues in health care. Psychiatry was a natural fit as I enjoy learning people's stories and building relationships to foster recovery. After initially focusing on medical education and serving on the faculty at Yale University and University of California, San Francisco, I chose to return to my clinical interests and joined Kaiser Permanente. Outside of medicine, I enjoy exploring the outdoors, traveling to new countries, and curling up with a good book.

About my practice

I completed further training with a Public Psychiatry Fellowship at University of California, San Francisco, as I enjoy working in the community and improving the delivery of mental health services. My clinical interests include consultation-liaison psychiatry/integrated care, psychopharmacology, women's mental health, and mood disorders. Medicine is constantly evolving; thus, I believe in remaining current with the latest research and medications and providing evidence-based treatments.

How I thrive

I am always planning my next travel destination and looking for ways to explore both internationally and within my own city. I am blessed to have friends and family who also share my interests and will join me in exploring the eateries of Portland and the hiking trails of the Pacific Northwest. Exercising my mind is also a must; in my free time, you can often find me at Powell's Books, adding to my ever-expanding booklist.
