Biography

I was born and raised in Northern California. I attended UC Berkeley, where I discovered my drive and desire to become a physician. I then took the wonderful opportunity of completing my medical education at New York Medical College, to which I will always be indebted. I discovered the beauty of surgery and decided to enter the field of urology. Urology is, for me, the perfect balance of cultivating surgical skill and establishing long-term relationships with members. I completed my surgical training in urology at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center and was honored to be recruited to work at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center. My family—parents, wife, and children—are all part of this wonderful hospital. I wouldn't have it any other way.

About my practice

I’m a surgeon in the Department of Urology at the Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center. I sincerely feel that the medicine we practice at Kaiser Permanente is top notch, and I’m truly fortunate to be a part of this hospital. I’m able to care for my members and do what is best for them, without being influenced by financial incentives. I’m proud and fortunate to be a Kaiser Permanente physician and member. My area of expertise is robotic surgery, laparoscopic surgery, endourology, and prostate health. I’m wellversed in the numerous facets of general urology.

How I thrive

I’m a vegetarian. I’ve never smoked. I’ve never tasted alcohol. I was a state-ranked tennis player as a youth. I run three to four days a week, and I ran the Los Angeles Marathon in 2007 and 2008. I visit the gym regularly to strengthen my "core" musculature, and I’m still an avid tennis player. It’s vital for me to stay in excellent mental and cardiovascular shape, always. It makes me a better surgeon, father, husband, and human being. I want to set the example for my members and colleagues. I consider exercise as essential as brushing my teeth!
