About Me

Welcome to Kaiser Permanente! I am a native Angeleno born just a few miles from the Los Angeles Medical Center at the Queen of Angels hospital.

Biography

I received my medical degree from Ross University. I then earned a master’s degree in public health from the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, which fueled my passion for helping not just individual patients but the public at large. During my residency training in family medicine at the University of Wisconsin, I served as the medical director of the Eau Claire Metro Treatment Center for substance abuse (detoxification, methadone maintenance, buprenorphine services). After my training in the East Coast and Midwest, I returned home to Los Angeles and was hired as an assistant clinical professor in family medicine at UCLA. While running my family medicine practice at UCLA, I was also a research physician at the UCLA Center for Behavioral and Addiction Medicine. The research projects I was involved with had to do with testing different medications to help those with methamphetamine addiction.

About my practice

I am board certified in both family medicine and addiction medicine. I fully believe in an integrated approach to medicine, which involves looking at and treating the mind, body, and spirit.

How I thrive

I strive to practice what I preach as much as possible in order to stay well. I enjoy mindfulness meditation, yoga, walking, hiking, spending time with my family, and playing with my big, furry dog.
