About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I'm happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice. I feel very fortunate to work at Kaiser Permanente because of my wonderful colleagues and our members, and I look forward to working with you to care for your health.

Biography

I was born in Illinois just one month after my parents moved here from the Philippines. When my father finished his residency in ophthalmology there, we moved from Illinois to West Virginia, where I grew up. In medical school, I realized that ophthalmology was my true passion. Although my father wanted me to join him in West Virginia, he realized that my talents were better utilized here in California and encouraged me to stay. Here at Kaiser Permanente, I met my wife (a nurse here before) and we have three beautiful children. I enjoy music, technology, photography, and aviation.

About my practice

My practice consists of doing comprehensive ophthalmology as well as addressing problems with cornea and external disease and refractive surgery. My particular chosen field is highly specialized in that I often do procedures, such as dealing with refractive complications, that other physicians here do not do. I also specialize in cornea transplants, DSEK, Intacs, and LASIK. You can be assured that if you see me for these reasons, you are in good hands!

How I thrive

My family is the most important part of my life, and we try to do things together as much as we can. I sing in our church choir, volunteer in stage productions at local grade/high schools, and work part time with an event planning company as a photographer and videographer. We love to travel with my extended family as well. I participate in annual medical missions to Fiji and the Philippines to provide much need services there. I also continue to enjoy teaching as a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at USC Keck School of Medicine.
