About Me

Welcome to my Web page. The Radiology Department at Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center offers advanced imaging and interventional modalities. My specialty is interventional radiology, which encompasses many exciting image-guided, minimally invasive treatment options for diseases that in the past were treated with more invasive surgery. I look forward to being involved in your care.

Biography

I am Korean-American and fluent in both Korean and English. I grew up in many different parts of the world, but I fell in love with Los Angeles and have called it my home since I started my medical training in 1992. I went to college at UC Berkeley and then to medical school at Tufts University in Boston. I am married with a daughter and a son. My hobbies include cycling, tennis, and skiing.

About my practice

I work in the Diagnostic Radiology Department but specialize in interventional radiology, which occupies about 70 percent of my time. My interventional radiology practice includes endovascular treatment of peripheral vascular diseases, including angioplasty, stent placement, embolization, and thrombolysis; image-guided drainage or biopsy; and adialysis access interventions. I also work closely with vascular surgeons in endovascular aortic stent graft repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms and other complex endovascular procedures in the operating room setting.

How I thrive

I believe it is up to the individual to take responsibility for his or her well-being. This includes regular exercise and a healthy diet, but I don't believe that such things have to be taken to extremes. "Everything in moderation" is my motto, and I try to live by it as much as I can. A healthy body is the foundation of a happy and fulfilling life. Sometimes our health is beyond our control, but I think we should try to control the things in life that we can. I believe that we at Kaiser Permanente should try to educate our members to help them avoid health problems and lead happy, productive lives.
