About Me
I grew up in Texas and somehow always knew I wanted to be a pediatrician. After working for 5 summers at Philmont Scout Ranch in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, I wanted a great program that was in the mountains when it came time to pick a place for my pediatric residency training. I moved to Colorado in 1992 to train at Children's Hospital and have loved the people and the place ever since. I loved one of the people so much I married her and we have 2 wonderful sons. I was honored to serve as the senior medical director of a nonprofit group called Rocky Mountain Youth Clinic and gained valuable and rewarding experience in my 15 years there. For many years, I had respected the medical providers at Kaiser Permanente and its model of excellent preventive care. I joined Kaiser Permanente in the summer of 2011. I manage to keep up with the changes and progress in medicine through my involvement with both the state and national American Academy of Pediatrics and clinical teaching through the University of Colorado School of Medicine. I was honored to be recognized as a 5280 Magazine Top Doctor in 2020.
About my practice
I practice and accept patients at both Ken Caryl and Castle Rock Medical Offices. I have fun at work and I get to watch children grow and thrive. To be given the responsibility to care for children is an honor I take very seriously. Helping a family get through a difficult time is some of the most rewarding work I have ever done. I get to help children of all ages, from birth through their early 20s. I love to teach and learn. Even my smallest patients can teach me. Using evidence-based medicine is something that takes continual learning. Kaiser Permanente offers me a great deal of support to make sure we optimize the health of all my patients. My goal is to couple the training and experience I have with all of your knowledge of your child and the great resources Kaiser Permanente has to offer to provide your child with the best care possible.
How I thrive
My wife and I and our 2 boys get up into the mountains any time we can. We ski, snowboard, hike and camp. We enjoy exploring Colorado and anywhere within an 8-hour radius of Denver. To stay fit, my wife drags me along on trail runs. I get to ride my bike to work a couple of days a week and I always have the biggest smile on my face while doing that.
