About Me

Welcome to my Web page! I’m a dermatologist at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, where I also serve as the director of dermatology research.

Biography

I grew up in a Waynesburg, Pennsylvania—a small town of 5000 people, 50 miles south of Pittsburgh. I went to Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, for a 7-year combined college/medical school program. I completed my internal medicine internship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. During my dermatology residency at UC Irvine, I served as chief resident and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. I am board-certified in dermatology.

About my practice

I’m a medical dermatologist with a special research interest and expertise in psoriasis. Those with severe psoriasis are often under-treated, and their quality-of-life suffers. I wish to improve both their skin health and their lives. I’m well-versed in all aspects of psoriasis therapy and I’ve actually started various clinical trials for investigational therapies and FDA-approved agents for psoriasis. I’ve conducted over 40 clinical trials, and have had over 150 book chapters and scientific journal articles published, in press, or awaiting publication. I’m also actively involved in the National Psoriasis Foundation, serving on the medical board and as associate editor for psoriasis forum. Additionally, I’m also a councilor for the International Psoriasis Council. But my practice isn’t only about psoriasis. I’m happy to see you and your family for all your skin health needs.

How I thrive

I keep my mind healthy by doing research since it quenches my curiosity. I also believe that, to keep the rest of me healthy, preventive care, exercise, and a healthy diet are important.
