Building the future of health care
Kaiser Permanente is enhancing its Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas with a new, state-of-the-art hospital tower that will open on the Sunnyside campus in 2029. Its advanced design reflects Kaiser Permanente’s integrated approach, incorporating leading-edge technology and enhanced patient amenities to deliver a comfortable, coordinated, high-quality care experience.
Patient-centered, future-focused
Some features of the new hospital tower will include:
- Private patient rooms that support healing and visitor comfort
- Advanced robotics and image-guided surgical equipment
- Expanded emergency room to better serve the community, especially in times of peak demand
- Thoughtful campus layout for easy navigation and wayfinding for patients, staff, and the public
- Green spaces, walking paths, and healing gardens to enhance the care and recovery experience
We’re also pursuing LEED Gold certification — and when the tower opens, Sunnyside Medical Center will be the first fully electric hospital in Oregon.
The existing hospital will remain fully operational during construction. When the new hospital tower opens in 2029, the current medical center building will be replaced with additional parking, walkways, and outdoor spaces.

Sunnyside Medical Center is home to:
- Northwest Center for Heart and Vascular Care
- Regional center for adult cancer care
- Regional center for neurosurgery and neuro-intervention
- Labor and delivery with a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
