Kaiser Permanente has received a strike notice from the Oregon Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals (OFNHP) and Oregon Nurses Association (ONA).

Since May, we have been negotiating in good faith with the Alliance of Health Care Unions, including OFNHP and ONA, on a new national agreement that supports our employees, maintains our status as a best place to work, and ensures affordable care for our members.

Possible strike planned October 14 to 19

OFNHP and ONA have issued a notice for a strike beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, and ending at 7 a.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

In Oregon and SW Washington, OFNHP and ONA represent nearly 4,000 healthcare workers in four different bargaining units who can strike—two units of registered nurses, laboratory professionals, and professional employees (such as social workers, cancer counselors, audiologists, physical therapists, and mental health therapists).

A strike notice does not mean a strike will happen.

A strike notice doesn’t mean a strike will actually happen. We’ll continue bargaining in good faith with the Alliance and will work to reach an agreement before a strike occurs.

If a strike does happen, our hospitals, medical and dental offices, and pharmacies will stay open. We have robust plans in place to ensure continued care.

It’s possible we may need to reschedule some non-urgent appointments and elective surgeries.

If you have an appointment scheduled on a possible strike date, please don't cancel or reschedule. We’ll reach out to you if we have to reschedule your care.

Kaiser Permanente may have limited capacity for laboratory testing. If you need to receive a routine lab test, please consider stopping at a Kaiser Permanente lab for collection prior to October 9, 2025.

Your care is our priority. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any potential inconvenience this may cause.
