Preventing Falls: Get an Eye Exam (00:00:55)
Video Transcript

It's just a fact of life that as we get older, most of us have to hold the newspaper a little closer ... or a little farther away ... and maybe turn on another light or two.

And even a small loss of vision can make it harder to see a step or avoid an electrical cord.

Let me show you what I mean ...

Susan has lived alone since her husband died.

She's done pretty well on her own.

But her eyesight isn't as good as it used to be.

That makes her feel nervous about going into the basement or out to the mailbox.

She decides to call her granddaughter and ask for a ride to the eye doctor to get an exam.

If it seems like your vision is getting worse, be sure to check with your eye doctor.

Treating these problems early can give you more years of sight.
