Inclisiran is used to help lower "bad" cholesterol (LDL) in the blood. It should be used along with other LDL-lowering medications (such as "statin" drugs) and a proper diet. Inclisiran works by improving how well your body gets rid of LDL cholesterol.
In addition to eating a proper diet (such as a low-cholesterol/low-fat diet), other lifestyle changes that may help this medication work better include exercising, losing weight if overweight, and stopping smoking. Consult your doctor for more details.
This medication is given by injection into the skin by a health care professional as directed by your doctor. You will receive one dose, followed by a second dose 3 months later. Then this medication is given every 6 months.
Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, mark your calendar with a reminder.
Redness, pain, or bruising at the injection site may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including:

During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. It may harm an unborn baby. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

It is important to get each dose of this medication as scheduled. If you miss a dose, ask your doctor or pharmacist right away for a new dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
