Kaiser Permanente provider
My gender: Male
I’m a resident physician collaborating with an attending physician. I am available for same day appointments. I am accepting new patients. Referral may be required.
I was born in Honolulu and lived in several communities on Oahu including Liliha, Punchbowl, and Hawaii Kai. I went to Mid-Pacific Institute and the University of Hawaii, where I earned my Bachelor of Science. For my medical education I went to Chicago Medical School.
During my undergraduate education at the University of California, San Diego, I had a wonderful mentor who showed great compassion. While shadowing him in his clinic and research laboratory, I saw the challenging and rewarding aspects of medicine. I chose family medicine as my specialty because it allows me to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical issues among patients of all ages. Because of my interest international medicine, I also wanted a broad-based training experience that would prepare me for unpredictable situations.
To stay current in medicine, I attend professional conferences and read the journals of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the New England Journal of Medicine, and the online medical resource UpToDate. My professional organizations—The American Academy of Family Medicine, the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the Christian Medical Dental Association, and the Society of Hospital Medicine—also provide the latest information in their respective fields.
When I worked in a temporary position with the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, I greatly enjoyed the staff and culture here. I’m happy to now be a regular part of this great team.
My goal is to provide thorough, comprehensive care to all my patients. I believe the best way to do this is to not only consider a patient’s physician condition, but also their psychological state, home environment, cultural background, and any challenges they’re experiencing that make it difficult for them to be healthy. I look forward to "talking story" with my patients about all the things they enjoy and what motivates them in life.
To de-stress and stay in good physical condition, I run five miles a day before work. I tell my wife all my problems, and I take time out to watch movies. I also enjoy being with family, participating in various sports, watching sporting events, hiking, dining, shopping with my wife, and traveling.
