About me

I was born in Amarillo, Texas, and raised in Oklahoma. My parents always encouraged me to pursue my dream of becoming a physician. I attended the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, and during my fourth year of training, I traveled to Hawaii and enrolled in an elective at the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine. I then completed my obstetrics & gynecology residency there. I loved Hawaii and decided to make Oahu my home. My family loves to visit, and I travel back home once or twice a year.

About my practice

When I broke my arm in elementary school while doing gymnastics, my kind and caring pediatric orthopedic surgeon sparked my interest in a medical career that never wavered. I thought about becoming a pediatrician until my third-year ob-gyn rotation, when I delivered my first baby. That was a life-changing event for me, and I knew that I’d found the perfect specialty. I love that the field of obstetrics and gynecology allows you to care for women of all ages and provide both medical and surgical services.

To stay current in my field and in medicine generally, I attend professional conferences and read medical journals. I also use online resources, participate in continuing medical education programs, and confer with my colleagues.

I love the philosophy of Kaiser Permanente. I also value Hawaii Permanente Medical Group’s collaborative approach to care. My HPMG colleagues across the medical specialties are helpful and supportive. I’m so happy that I decided to make the move from private practice to join my Kaiser Permanente family.

Excellent communication is the foundation of a successful doctor-patient relationship. I want my patients to see me both as a provider and friend. I want my patients to feel comfortable and free to ask any and all questions.

How I thrive

In my spare time, I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating well and staying physically active. I like to mix it up with running, spinning, yoga, and hiking, and I’m always looking for new ways to work out. I’ve run several Honolulu Marathons and recently ran my first New York Marathon. I also enjoy spending quality time with friends, traveling, going to concerts, and trying new restaurants around town.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
