Where I practice
I am a native of Georgia, and I have lived in various parts of the state throughout my life. I appreciate living close to a large, diverse city while also being able to enjoy the natural beauty Georgia has to offer. I attended college at Georgia State University, and I remained in the Atlanta area to complete my doctoral work at the Georgia School of Professional Psychology. I chose a career in psychology because I could not imagine a more rewarding professional path.
About my practice
My aim as a psychologist is to promote well-being and ease emotional suffering in the lives of others. My practice is guided by an understanding that, in addition to biological factors, interpersonal and cultural experiences have a powerful impact on how we relate to ourselves, engage with others, and cope with emotions. My practice is also guided by an understanding that healthy behaviors play a significant role in the prevention and treatment of mental health concerns.
My areas of expertise include addiction, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and interpersonal trauma. I help members reflect, clarify personal goals, work through ambivalence, and develop skills for sustainable and meaningful growth. Regardless of a member's presenting concern or the contextual factors contributing to it, my initial goals are to form a connection, develop an understanding of what brings the member to counseling, and lay the foundation for a collaborative relationship.
How I thrive
I thrive by spending time with family and friends, hosting family gatherings, and cooking healthy foods for the ones I love. It is safe to say I have one too many cookbooks. I also thrive by exercising on a regular basis, getting outdoors, and reading.
