About me
According to my parents, I announced that I wanted to be a physician at the age of three. Apparently, I wanted to be a physician to the astronauts in space! My path in becoming an obstetrician and gynecologist took me through schools and training in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Houston, Abington, Pa. and Cambridge, Mass. Although I never got closer to space than my "Starfleet Medical Reference Manual," it has been a rewarding career. I have been married since 1985. My wife and I have wonderful twins, who are currently in college seeking their own paths. I enjoy helping people, practicing surgery and seeing my patients become well. I have been fortunate to be able to perform this service for our members.
About my practice
As an Ob/Gyn physician, I am committed to the health care of our members. The many ways to accomplish this keeps the practice of medicine always fresh and interesting. No two patients are the same, and every patient has a unique story to tell and deserves individual attention to meet her health care needs. I especially enjoy the ability to employ minimally invasive techniques to provide safe, effective and comfortable forms of surgery in the office, formerly practiced only in the operating room. My other roles include the field of medical informatics. The creation of Kaiser Permanente's electronic health record is a major advance in the care of our members. The instant availability of a patient's medical information integrated with the ability to proactively address their medical conditions, coupled with preventive medicine and the capability of computerized decision support, makes significant improvements to the health and well-being of our patients. I am grateful to be a part of this newer field of medicine and helping to make the lives of my fellow clinicians more effective in caring for their patients.
How I thrive
My favorite method of thriving at present is fishing. When I lived in Massachusetts, it included skiing, but Georgia's climate does not support that. Fishing, however, can be practiced in any climate. In several ways, being closer to nature is always a source of wonder. My other enjoyment is working with computer systems. I find building my own computer systems and exploring different operating systems relaxing.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.
Information about a provider is provided to us by the provider or the provider's network, or is obtained as part of the credentialing process. Board certification may not reflect contracted services available from providers listed in our directory. If you have questions regarding this or about any of our providers, call us at 1-800-611-1811 (toll free). For the hearing and speech impaired: 1-888-865-5813 or 711 (TTY).
