About me
I grew up in upstate New York and attended Cornell University. I received my medical training in New York City. After completing my residency in 2000, I moved to the South while on active duty with the United States Navy. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2012 after working in a private practice for several years. I have had the opportunity to live and work in different parts of the United States and have benefited from interacting with people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds.
About my practice
I became a pediatrician because I am inspired by children's curiosity and sense of wonder about the world around them. I also enjoy the unique challenges of treating children. They cannot always tell us what is wrong, are often frightened and have needs that are different from adults. I know that the care I provide now can have a lifelong impact on a child's health.I see each appointment as an opportunity to solve a puzzle, play, teach and learn from a child. I try to make every encounter informative and enjoyable. It is very satisfying for me to finish an appointment laughing with a patient who initially was nervous.I believe that parents have the ability to make the best decisions for their child. I see my role as helping them do this by being an educator (providing the information they need), an advocate (making suggestions based on evidence and guidelines) and a facilitator (helping to access the resources they need). As a parent myself, I know how important it is for families to know that their concerns have been addressed and that their child's problems have been thoroughly evaluated and treated. It is my goal to have parents leave each appointment fully understanding their child's diagnosis and treatment plan.
How I thrive
When I am not at work, I am often found reading anything from classic literature to science fiction or listening to music ranging from classical and jazz to rock (I am an 80s music enthusiast). I unwind by golfing or taking walks with my wife. I especially enjoy going to the zoo, going to a park or watching sports with my son, who is following in my footsteps as a fan of the New York Yankees and South Carolina Gamecocks. No matter how busy we all are, we try to spend time together every day.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.
Information about a provider is provided to us by the provider or the provider's network, or is obtained as part of the credentialing process.
