Rachel P. Puttnam, MD
I speak: English, Hindi
My gender: Female
Where I practice
My interest in endocrinology has deep personal roots. When I was 14, my nine-year-old brother was diagnosed with diabetes. The experience was trying for my family as we faced episodes of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia and struggled to keep my brother's blood sugar in check. We were fortunate that a knowledgeable and committed endocrinologist was able to prepare us for the challenges of diabetes management. My interest in the field continued to grow in medical school in India, and I completed my fellowship training in endocrinology and metabolism at Henry Ford Hospital.
About my practice
I practice general endocrinology, which includes seeing our members with diabetes, primary hyperparathyroidism, thyroid, adrenal and pituitary gland disorders. My philosophy is to provide my patients with care and educate them to take responsibility of their health. With the support of our excellent staff, it is my goal to provide high-quality patient care. I believe success can be achieved with the patient and physician working as a team.
How I thrive
I enjoy reading books with my children. Embroidery and sidewalk chalk art is another interesting hobby of mine.
