About me
As the first physiatrist to join Kaiser Permanente in Georgia, I find it both a privilege and a challenge. Physiatrists are trained to treat medical conditions while improving a patient's function. I have cared for patients suffering from the paralysis of a stroke, brain or spinal cord injury, as well as those suffering from pain and physical impairment of a neck or back injury due to a herniated disc. During the past 20 plus years of practicing medicine, I have learned that the human body is truly amazing. If placed in the proper environment, it can often heal itself from the worst of impairments. The challenge I have had as a pain management physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist is helping patients put their bodies in that proper environment, which has usually involved making some changes.
About my practice
Changing the way a patient eats, sits, stands, walks or sleeps after years or decades of poor habits is not easy. Unfortunately, I have met many patients during a traumatic illness or at the most difficult time of their lives. In the hospital setting, patients do not have many choices about the changes required to learn to sit, stand, walk, swallow or talk again. A healthy diet, adjustment of medications and therapeutic exercise provide the fertile ground for the body to heal from the worse impairments. I have applied these same principles to helping patients manage their pain and the results have been amazing! I love what I do and enjoy helping our members make the changes needed to feel better. I am fortunate to work with a group of gifted colleagues and staff that can provide a full spectrum of pain relieving strategies, if needed.
How I thrive
I enjoy spending time with my two amazing daughters, going to Broadway musicals, gardening, Zumba and cooking. My grandmothers were excellent cooks and part-time caterers. I think I inherited their culinary skills and passion for cooking and grilling. In my next life, I hope to meet Bobby Flay and challenge him to a grill off!

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.
Information about a provider is provided to us by the provider or the provider's network, or is obtained as part of the credentialing process.
