About me
I knew when I was a child that I wanted to help others. In fact, I believe I was in the third grade when I decided I would become a child/adolescent psychiatrist! But after attending Florida A&M University for college and Morehouse School of Medicine for medical school, I was faced with a dilemma: I also had discovered a passion for pediatrics. Fortunately, I found a training program that would allow me to train as a psychiatrist, both general (adult) and child/adolescent, and as a pediatrician. Fast forward several years (and some additional training in forensic psychiatry), and I have now found a new clinical home in the Behavioral Health Department at Kaiser Permanente! I truly enjoy the freedom to care for our members that my position at Kaiser Permanente allows me, as well as the opportunities to teach and engage with colleagues as we continue to strive for better health and living for our patients and ourselves.
About my practice
I currently am a full-time psychiatrist in the Behavioral Health Department. I have the pleasure of treating members of all ages from young childhood through their golden years. I enjoy seeing such a wide spectrum of members as it often reminds me to always keep the wonder and innocence of a child, gently guided by the wisdom and insight of an elder. I strive to provide our members with the tools needed to mend, heal or move on in their lives in a healthy direction. I encourage all my patients to take an active role in their mental health care and be an active participant in the creating, changing and implementing of their treatment plans.
How I thrive
As a busy doctor, wife and mother of four very active boys, I thrive by maintaining a busy, but fulfilling schedule that allows for some quiet time to read and lots of time for traveling and vacationing with my family and friends. I love to experience new places and cultures, often returning home to share my experiences, and potentially incorporating something I have learned into my "normal" life. I am also an avid sports fan, particularly professional football! I have the benefit of some exceptional friendships, as well as my wonderful husband and children, to help me maintain an appropriate balance between my career and my home life. This makes me happy, helps keep my life at peace and allows me to continue to thrive!

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.
Information about a provider is provided to us by the provider or the provider's network, or is obtained as part of the credentialing process. Board certification may not reflect contracted services available from providers listed in our directory. If you have questions regarding this or about any of our providers, call us at 1-800-611-1811 (toll free). For the hearing and speech impaired: 1-888-865-5813 or 711 (TTY).
