Diabetes classes and programs

 As a Kaiser Permanente member, you can sign up for classes and programs to learn how to achieve your health and wellness goals in living with diabetes.

All sessions are taught by our experts in diabetes. These classes provide basic skills that fit your individual health needs. They’ll also show give you tools to create and stick to meaningful lifestyle changes and routines are right for you. They’ll also provide you with helpful learning resources and tools to use on your own. 

Kaiser Permanente’s courses and resources are created by our own experts in diabetes, including clinical team members who provide care every day. You’ll find instructor-led, self-paced, person-to-person, over-the-phone, and webinar options for learning in groups or on your own.  

Topic areas range from basic skills to advanced self-care: 

  • Understanding Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes 
  • Creating healthy lifestyle habits for living well with diabetes 
  • Insulin use, including injections and insulin pumps 
  • Blood sugar monitoring, including monitoring device use 
  • Weight management 
  • Healthy eating – from nutrition and shopping to recipes and meal planning 
  • Counting carbs, with or without insulin use 
  • Support groups
