Your health plan may come with some benefits and perks that go well beyond coverage for when you are sick. Discover 12 unexpected things your plan can offer to support your well-being:1

1. Coaching, classes, and online resources for mental wellness

When you’re struggling with a mental health concern, you can access a range of mental health services beyond therapy or medication.2 Options can include one-on-one coaching, self-care apps, virtual and in-person classes,3 and reliable online resources. Remember, your primary care doctor can also support your mental wellness journey.

2. Chiropractic care: realign and recharge

Does your lower back complain after a day of picking up your toddler or sitting at your desk? You may want to consider the affinity musculoskeletal program offered through Optum.4 Get 20% off participating practitioners through this program, which helps members with issues around their bones, muscles, and joints. Be sure to bring your Kaiser Permanente ID card to your appointment.

3. Massage therapy to bounce back and keep injuries at bay

Recovering from pulled muscles after an intense workout — or even minor injuries — can take time and patience. You can get 20% off on services like massage therapy and acupuncture through Optum participating providers to aid with healing and even help prevent injuries.4 You’ll need to show your ID card to prove eligibility for any reduced rates.

4. A total health assessment to lock in your wellness goals

Our Total Health Assessment is a quick online questionnaire that will help you and your care team create a tailored health plan for everything from weight management to quitting tobacco. With your plan in hand, you can find classes and other resources3 to help you with things such as exercise and better sleep. You can also try our delicious recipes to help you along the way.

5. Screenings and vaccines that are hassle-free

You can check online or use our app at any hour to see whether you and your family are up to date on your health screenings and vaccines. Or, review lab results to see when you last had a cholesterol test and other important preventive care. Message your care team anytime with health concerns or make an appointment.

6. Reduced rates on classes to up your fitness game

Access gyms nationwide with Optum’s One Pass Select Affinity and find what speaks to you: strength training, swimming, yoga classes, and more. Eligible plan members2 get a range of perks, including in-person and online fitness classes, at reduced rates. Plus, your One Pass Select Affinity includes grocery and home essentials delivery.

7. Meditation and sleep apps to make your Zzzs a breeze

It can be hard to shut off all the noise in your life. That’s where self-care apps can help.2 Many Kaiser Permanente health plans give you access at no cost to Calm,5 the number-one app for sleep and meditation. You also may want to check out a similar perk through Headspace, which includes sleepcasts and live, text-based emotional support coaching available 24/7.

8. After-hours care for the little and big things

It’s hard enough to fit everything on your to-do list between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Many Kaiser Permanente facilities offer after-hours care options for you — like for imaging or bloodwork. Check available appointments on the app or call for services like vaccinations and other routine care.
For urgent needs, you can connect with a clinician virtually without an appointment using our Get Care Now service;6 costs vary. You also can speak with a licensed medical professional on our 24/7 advice line anytime at no cost.

9. Routine eye and hearing care to keep your senses sharp

Get help with vision and hearing, too, including eye exams, glasses, and contact lens fittings. For hearing, you can tap our professional hearing aid services, products, and accessories. Check your plan documents to see what’s covered under preventive care.

10. Secure care that travels with you

When you travel, your coverage includes urgent and emergency care, as well as prescription drugs or refills. Prepare for your trip in advance by downloading our mobile app. Then connect with a customer service representative about your travel care options. If you’re going overseas, you may need to cover costs upfront. Be sure to save any receipts for emergency care.

11. Teen accounts with access to digital self-care apps

Teens who are 13 and older can access the digital self-care apps Headspace and Calm, which can help them manage stress and build mindfulness habits at an early age.
