I was born in California to immigrant parents who were attending graduate school at UC Davis. Because I moved to Hawaii with my parents while I was still in elementary school, I consider Hawaii my home.
I was on my way to medical school from the moment I was born. My parents are pharmacists and my uncle was a cardiologist. While I was in medical school, my grandfather suffered a stroke and I was fascinated with his rehabilitation. I have also always been fairly physically active and really enjoy the musculoskeletal aspect of physical medicine and rehabilitation. It is wonderful to work with the supportive and brilliant physicians of the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group. Medical decision-making is done in partnership with the patient, so education regarding disease or injury and treatment options are at the center of each encounter. Sincerity and openness, eye contact, and mutual respect allow me to work together with my patients as we sometimes tackle very difficult problems.
I spend nearly all of my off time with my family. We play together on weekends and get our exercise through karate.
