I was born and raised in Honolulu. My college education was for the most part at the University of Hawaii. My parents were not wealthy, I am grateful for the sacrifices they made to support my educational pursuits.
About my practice
I was interested in the practical aspects of science and this attracted me to pursuing a career in medicine. I also had several excellent physician role models starting with my family physician as I was growing up. My choice of specialty was easy: I can relate to the function of the GI tract, as I love to eat. At the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, I like the fact that we work together as a team for the benefit of the patient. My colleagues are always willing to help. In my practice, I believe in caring for the patient as I would want to be cared for. Having the opportunity to treat my patients over a period of time and seeing them get better is something I particularly enjoy.
How I thrive
Outside of work, I stay mentally and physically healthy through gardening and spending time with my family.
