About me
Although I am a native of Southern California, I did my medical school training in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After my internship and residency training in Los Angeles, I decided to move to the Orange County area, where I work and live. I enjoy treating my patients with compassion and care, working with my esteemed colleagues and our fabulous ancillary personnel, and could not imagine having a more satisfying work environment. I spend most of my spare time with my family, including a beautiful daughter, and close friends. Music is also a passion of mine, as well as physical fitness, spiritual well-being, and generally enjoying life.
Biography
Hello, and welcome to my Web page! I'm Dr. Glen Barbee, a family medicine physician at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Office Building in Huntington Beach, California. I look forward to working together with you to take care of your health.
About my practice
My career in medicine has been particularly fulfilling, as I genuinely enjoy caring for patients and their families, and utilizing my medical skills and knowledge to maximize their potential for long, healthy lives. I feel that I am a member advocate and partner in the health of our patients, for in my opinion it is as important to get members involved in improving or maximizing their own health as any prescription or procedure I can order. I feel honored and humbled that I have had an opportunity to build a strong rapport and level of trust with my member panel, for I do try to treat each and every member as I would like to have my own family members treated.
How I thrive
I "thrive" by eating well (moderation is the key), exercising on a regular basis, and being involved in multiple activities outside of my medical practice. My daughter and I are both black belts in the Korean martial art of Tae Kwon Do, and thoroughly enjoy our training with a wonderful family-run dojo in Huntington Beach (one of our instructors is a two-time WTF Tae Kwon Do World Champion). These and other activities allow me to return to my office, or any clinic where I might have additional member care responsibilities, with a fresh perspective and high energy level. I also volunteer for several organizations, which help underprivileged populations both in Los Angeles, and Orange County. Periodically, I return to my medical school alma mater in Philadelphia (where I previously served for many years on the board of directors of the alumni association), for I like to be involved in helping to shape the future of medical education in an environment where technology is rapidly changing the way physicians practice.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
